The ocean isn’t as quiet as we like to imagine 🌊🔊

From cargo ships and sonar to offshore construction, human-made noise is changing life underwater in ways most divers never see. For whales, sharks, and even fish, sound is everything: communication, navigation, finding food, avoiding predators.

Marine biologist Dr. David Shiffman breaks down how noise pollution impacts ocean life, and why quieter seas could make a huge difference for marine conservation.

Shipwrecks like this are amazingly beautiful! Stop by the shop to ask us what kind of wrecks you can dive this summer!

Dropping 230 feet into the freezing, turbulent waters of the North Atlantic, the camera enters a world of crushing pressure and near-zero visibility. Emerging from the gloomy, green-black water is the massive, rusted carcass of the U-869, a World War II German U-boat. The footage is incredibly tense, capturing the swirling, violent currents that constantly threaten to smash the camera against the decaying steel. The submarine is heavily draped in massive, ghost fishing nets that act as deadly underwater spiderwebs. As the camera peers into a rusted breach in the hull, the claustrophobic nightmare is realized—collapsing bulkheads, exposed electrical wires, and zero-light conditions make pe*******on almost guaranteed su***de. It’s a frigid, hostile environment where nitrogen narcosis and the treacherous wreckage have claimed the lives of multiple elite wreck divers.
