Rule #1: Bring more ammo than you think you need.

Rule #2: Don’t forget water. Zombies aren’t the only thing that’ll drain you.

Rule #3: Wear comfortable shoes. You’re going to be moving.

Rule #4: Listen to your Stage Boss. They’re trying to keep you alive.

Rule #5: Keep your eyes open. You never know what’s waiting for you.

The Zombie Shoot doesn’t happen by itself. Behind all 19 stages, hundreds of shooters, countless targets, and one heck of a long day is an incredible group of people who put in a TON of work to make this event happen.

Today, we want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to our Stage Bosses, Medical Crew, and Command Crew! 👏👏👏

These folks spend countless hours before, during, and after the event making sure everything runs safely, smoothly, and—most importantly—that everyone has a great time.

Seriously though, we cannot thank these volunteers enough. The Zombie Shoot simply would not be possible without them.

They give up their time, their weekends, and a whole lot of energy to make this event special for everyone who attends.

For those who have been around Aurora Sportsmen's Club Action Shooting Sports, Ben is probably a familiar name.

Ben has been instrumental in training dozens of ASC members in Close Quarters Battle (CQB) and Clearance techniques, and his experience and instruction have helped shape the way our TASC program operates within Action Shooting Sports.

And now he's bringing that experience to the Zombie Shoot. 🔥

🦍 WHO IS THE "VANILLA GORILLA"?

Ben Wallick joined the U.S. Navy immediately after graduating high school in July 2001 and went on to complete BUD/S Class 242, earning his place as a Navy SEAL.

He was assigned to SEAL Team 2, where he served in a variety of roles including Lead Breacher and Team Leader, deploying multiple times in support of combat operations in the Middle East.

After leaving SEAL Team 2 in 2009, Ben spent his final year on active duty at the Naval Special Warfare Training Detachment Assault Cell, where he taught Close Quarter Combat tactics to East Coast SEAL teams.

That experience eventually led Ben to establish Vanilla Gorilla Security, a professional CQB training company focused on bringing real-world tactical knowledge and experience to civilian training.

And yes… "Vanilla Gorilla" really was his nickname in the SEAL teams. 🦍

🔥 STAGE #11: CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT 🔥

At the Zombie Shoot, you'll get a chance to experience a taste of what Ben teaches through hands-on CQB training.

Participants will learn foundational Close Quarters Combat and clearance skills in a controlled environment at ASC — skills designed to prepare you for taking a full-length CQB course.

You'll work through techniques focused on movement, clearing, communication, and safely navigating close-quarters environments, while learning how these skills can be applied to protecting your home and family.

And you're learning from someone who has actually done it at the highest level.

Some traditions are just too good to leave behind — and the Waterman Boy Scout Troop 33 has been feeding Zombie Shoot survivors for years! ❤️

Once again, the Scouts will be set up on the East Side Range areas, serving up some classic, no-nonsense range food:

The Waterman Boy Scout Troop 33 is a fantastic example of what makes having events like the Zombie Shoot at ASC so special.

For generations, Scouting has helped young people develop character, leadership, citizenship, self-reliance, teamwork, and the confidence to take on challenges. Those are some of the core aims of Scouting America.

And while you may see the Scouts behind the grill serving up your burger and brat, what you’re really supporting is the opportunity for these young men to learn responsibility, work together, serve their community, and develop skills that will stay with them long after they’ve hung up the Scout uniform.
