🎯 FROM ZERO EXPERIENCE TO HITS AT 600 YARDS!

A big THANK YOU to Bruno Rios of Omega Tactics for hosting his Intro to Long Range Course here at Aurora Sportsmen’s Club on August 29th!

This course was a great opportunity for shooters to take their first steps into long-range shooting and build the skills needed to confidently engage targets at distance.

Students worked through the fundamentals, including:
🔹 Proper rifle setup
🔹 Marksmanship fundamentals
🔹 Using the MIL Relation Formula to estimate distance
🔹 Reading and accounting for wind
🔹 Understanding the fundamentals of long-range ballistics
🔹 And much more!

By the end of the day, students were calling wind and making consistent hits on 12-inch steel targets all the way out to 600 yards! 💥
From learning the basics to making hits at 600 yards — this is what putting in the work looks like.
A huge thank you to Bruno and the entire Omega Tactics team for bringing this training to ASC, and to everyone who came out, learned something new, and put in the work! 🇺🇸

The shotgun department would like to think all those that attended this years pig roast and all the volunteers that made it happen. These year the crowed devoured 40 whole chickens, 90 lbs of sausage, 150 lbs of pork, 306 lbs of brisket, many dessert and vegetable trays. All cooked by volunteers. We were blessed again by great weather.

This is an invitation from the shotgun department to all Rifle and Pistol Shooters that never shoot shotgun, to come out and enjoy a good meal at the ASC Shotgun Pig Roast tomorrow August 22nd. You do not have to shoot any shotgun games to enjoy this great meal. Go shoot your rifle and pistol this Saturday and stop by for dinner at 6:30 pm. Bring any family member or guest to join you or enjoy the company of one of the 350 plus participants. All we ask is you pre-register prior to 3 pm with the number in your party at [email protected], so we know if we need to adjust the quantities of side dishes. We also ask for a $5 per person donation to help cover the cost for all you can eat and drink. The entire menu is homemade and here is most of the menu.

This past weekend I had the privilege of hosting three amazing instructors and USPSA competitors on the East Side. The group was assembled under the banner of Tim Herron Shooting, but each instructor gave a truly individual approach to what they taught. The student to instructor ratio was never more than 6 to1.

Day one we shot mostly static as one group, refining fundamentals of grip, sights and trigger, honing in the skills of trigger and sight confirmation.

Day 2 was mostly spent applying those skills on micro stages, in smaller groups, each with different instructors. The emphasis was on movement and transitions.

As sectionals resulted in the ASC match being rescheduled, we held our own unofficial 4 stage match, on Day 3. The students shot the match first, then we saw how these amazing GMs did it. After lunch each of them shared with us their approach to each stage. Truly amazing! Recommendations were made on how to shoot the stages more efficiently. All of us had the opportunity to re-shoot the match. Guess what? Everyone improved!!

If you walk by E4 and E5 and something feels different, its probably some of the energy these guys left on the bays. A special thank you to Tim Herron Shooting , Brennan, and Justin Anderson for your hard work.
