Free tip Friday!
Always have a qualified pro shop operator check the fit of your ball if it doesn't feel right.
What you are seeing below is my thumb and hand webbing torn up after bowling 10 games. So what happened was that I've lost around 160lbs in the past year and a half, and because of that, I've shunk considerably... Including my THUMB. I was using the red thumb slug for these games
The picture of the green and red thumb slugs is what I wanted to really make a point of. The red one was made for me BEFORE I lost a lot of weight, and the green one is one I had made for me last week.
Even though I was properly measured for both of the slugs, the size of your hand and fingers changes due to various factors such as how often you use them, the weather, weight loss, fluid retention, among others. If you look close at both of the slugs, you'll see that they don't look too different, but more importantly THEY FEEL VASTLY DIFFERENT and THE GREEN ONE DIDN'T TEAR UP MY THUMB BECAUSE IT WAS TOO LOOSE
The tip is this: get your ball checked by a pro shop operator before your season starts, and if in the meantime the feel of the ball changes, take it to the pro shop before it becomes a problem.
