Friends and Neighbors of Hedgeland -- This morning (19 August 2026) on behalf of Hedgeland Equestrian, I posted a "No Trespassing" sign on the driveway easement just beyond the fork to the indoor and our house. This notice is not directed toward any of our fellow property owners/neighbors or their contractors, customers, or friends of Hedgeland who have rights/permission to use the easement. This notice is only relevant to unrelated person(s) who have no right to enter the Hedgeland property including, but not limited to, Loudoun Water, Dewberry, and any other persons or contractors associated with the Waterford-Paeonian Springs Sewer and Water Project. The particular location of the sign was selected as the point where Loudoun Water et al had placed a survey stake.

Many of you know Lauren Dearlove, who with her family, has been a long time friend and supporter of Hedgeland. One of the planned routes for new transmission lines from WV to the data centers in NOVA runs right along the property line of her farm in Lovettsville. Please provide your comments in opposition to this route (and any new routes in Western Loudoun for that matter). The post includes instructions and recommended remarks.

Horse at Culpeper HITS was euthanized today for EHV. Horse originated from a barn locally in Waterford/Hamilton. Probably makes sense to keep horses onsite for a week or so and not allow outside horses on the farm during this time. The new foal here at Hedgeland is especially susceptible. Please also take precautions if you (as a person) have contact with horses off property. Contact us if you have questions.

The Maryland State Veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Trout told The Equiery that it received confirmation today that a trail riding horse in Cecil County with neurological symptoms tested positive today for EHV-1. Tis the season for fawns. Over the next few weeks and months, you will undoubtably encounter deer fawns as you explore Hedgeland and the surrounding properties. Please know that the mother left the fawn there and will be back. Best to just leave it alone! Photo taken this morning by Margaret.

Looks like we might get some snow! We will keep everyone updated as to the status. Hopefully, nothing too dramatic in the next 24 hours! Stay warm. 😜

Another miracle win after being super flat but the bigger miracle is that we are getting a snowstorm and our area is in the bullseye . Let’s hope this storm starts better the Skins started today.

The NWS increased their forecast to 8-12 and I think it’s a good call. Most of the heavy liquid Gold will fall before noon and rates should be really impressive. Perhaps even thundersnow if we get lucky

The snow that falls tomorrow afternoon and evening will be more on the light to moderate side but will still accumulate at high ratios. Fun event coming up but will be disruptive for sure

UPDATE: At least a single lane open to the Waterford pool. Hopefully Dominion can get in and start working on the power.

Clark’s Gap Road closed at Hurley. Multiple trees and power lines down between Hedgeland and Hamilton Station Road (704). Reports suggest taking 15 to Stumptown or 287 to Lovettsville to get to Waterford.
