We want to take a moment to recognize the retirement of Wasilla Girls Basketball, Coach Jeanie Hebert-Truax — leaving behind one of the most respected programs in the state.

For years, Wasilla has been a standard in Alaska girls basketball, and Coach Hebert-Truax was at the heart of it all. Her teams were known for their toughness, discipline, and ability to compete with anyone, anytime. Year after year, the Warriors showed up in big moments — a direct reflection of her leadership and commitment to excellence.

But her impact goes far beyond wins and championships. She built a program where players grew into leaders, teammates became family, and pride in Wasilla basketball meant something bigger.

Great programs don’t happen by accident — they’re built by coaches who pour everything into their players and their community. Coach Hebert-Truax did that every single day.

Thank you, Coach, for everything you’ve given to your players, fellow coaches and the game of basketball in Alaska. Your legacy will always be part of Alaska basketball.
