K*k Sool Won (Hangul: 국술원) is a Korean martial arts system founded by Suh In-Hyuk (Hangul: 서인혁), the k*k sa nim (grandmaster) in 1961.[6] The name K*k Sool Won translates to "National Martial Art Association" and despite often being shortened to "K*k Sool", the name k*k sool (국술; 國術) is a non-trademarked name used to denote similar Korean martial arts developed prior to or about the same time as the formation of K*k Sool Won. K*k Sool Won is currently taught world-wide[3] and since it was founded as a martial arts system and not merely as a martial arts style, K*k Sool Won does not consider itself limited to any single discipline. It attempts to be a comprehensive study of all traditional Korean martial arts. Suh In Hyuk's philosophy regarding his system is to "Integrate and explore the entire spectrum of established traditional Korean martial arts, body conditioning techniques, mental development, and weapons training."[

In 1612, Miyamoto Musashi arrived intentionally late to his most famous duel against the renowned swordsman Sasaki Kojiro. While being rowed to the island of Ganryu, he sat in the boat and carved a wooden sword out of a spare oar. He stepped onto the beach and defeated his opponent, who was armed with a legendary steel blade, using nothing but that piece of wood and superior timing.

Musashi lived a life defined by the harsh realities of combat, remaining undefeated across more than sixty life-or-death duels. He realized that peace is not a passive state, but something maintained by those with the capability to meet force with greater force. He noted:

The only effective solution against evil and violent people is good people more skilled in violence.

This was not an endorsement of cruelty, but a call for competence. Musashi was a polymath who spent his later years practicing Zen, calligraphy, and ink painting. He argued in his writings that the Way of the Warrior should be applied to all things, emphasizing that a person who is truly good must also be truly capable.

He finished his life in a cave called Reigando, writing down his life's strategy in The Book of Five Rings. His message remains clear: do not aim to be harmless. Aim to be powerful, and then be disciplined enough to use that power only when necessary.
