No one is talking about it, but it feels like the elephant in the room: skinny is in & for many people it’s become an obsession.
Everywhere I turn, people seem to be getting thinner, faster. Social media feeds us a constant stream of transformations, before & afters & unrealistic expectations. Young girls are growing up believing that if they aren’t thin, they’re somehow less worthy, less beautiful, or less enough.
This post isn’t about shaming anyone. What someone else chooses to do with their body is none of my business. This is for the women (& men!!) who are showing up every day - exercising, trying to make healthier choices, trying to nourish their bodies & feeling discouraged because the changes aren’t happening as quickly as they’d hoped.
Are there quick fixes? Sure - but quick doesn’t always mean sustainable & fast doesn’t always mean healthy.
As a mom who recently had 2 babies back to back, I understand how hard it can be. Some days I look at where I want to be physically & feel overwhelmed by how far away it seems. It can be discouraging knowing that rebuilding strength, energy & confidence takes time but I’ve learned that healing isn’t a race. Every workout, every walk, every healthy choice is a step forward, even when the results aren’t immediately visible.
Your worth is not measured by the number on a scale, the size of your jeans, or how quickly your body changes. Real health is built through consistency, patience, strength, movement & habits that support you for years - not just weeks.
If you’re doing the work & not seeing overnight results, keep going. Your body is listening. Your efforts matter. Progress isn’t always visible right away, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
The body that carried you through life’s seasons deserves grace, not criticism. Keep going & know that it’s a mix of patience, effort & love for yourself 🫶🏼🩷
