Spring has sprung 🌷🌸☀️
This weekend marked CARs across the DMV racing in the gorgeous weather. The spring racing season is officially in full swing!
Ashton Blackwell (16:07) and Emma Unterkoefler (19:24) kicked things off for us with men’s and women’s overall wins at the Van Metre 5k. Sebastian Malave (17:52) made his CAR debut with a 4th place finish. At the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, Greg Mariano was our top men’s finisher in 53:04, followed by Cian Bell (55:41), Philippe Rolly (56:43), Patrick Carter (56:59), Eric Genetti (1:00:50), Tommy Blackwell (1:02:25), Cam Brien (1:02:49 PR), Dan Lawver (1:03:10 PR), David McKenzie (1:07:18), Nathan Napier (1:07:24), Matteo Iacoviello (1:12:34) and Larry Grossman (1:17:39). Gabrielle McKenzie led our CAR women with her 1:00:28 PR, followed by Abby Nasse (1:02:29 PR), Bailey Wilson (1:06:12), Sarah Whitworth (1:06:26), Jessica Chin Somers (1:11:51), Eve Hoffman (1:12:34), Ari Brose (1:16:08), Anya Vogel (1:18:33), Kylee Carrillo (1:19:43),the Delgado sisters, Andrea and Jessy (1:36:14) and Rosy Khanna (2:00:07). Callie Wallace, on loan from CAR to Harvard University, crushed her 800m PR with a 2:12.08 performance at the Friar Invitational in Providence. Marisa Poe, on loan from CAR to Yale University, ran 18:03.74 for 5000m at the Bison Classic at Bucknell University (Alma mater of Coach George!) Anya Vogel dropped down in distance last week to run 32.80 for 200m and 1:10.16 for 400m (3rd place) at a meet at St. Alban’s. Stephen Siegel ran 42:40 for a 5.3 mile trail race at Catalina State Park in AZ to finish 4th overall. Congrats to all!
