We provide quality and rewarding activities in a fun, yet safe environment. We also realize that participating in a sport or adventure activity can really be appreciated if an individual is knowledgeable about all aspects of the activity. Thus, we offer instructional courses emphasizing the fundamentals of safety, technique, and environmental awareness. We are committed to ensuring that our activities are abundant with excitement and challenges that will leave its participants with a sense of accomplishment and pride. This year’s Big A$$ Hike & Cookout brought out a lot of new hikers as we hit the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail! 🥾

After the hike, we enjoyed some good food, checked out the vendors, played volleyball and other games, and just had a great day relaxing in the park.

Thanks to everyone who came out and spent the day with us! We hope you enjoyed yourself, met someone new, and maybe even made a new hiking buddy along the way.

I love when we get the opportunity to teach our young folks some basic bushcraft and outdoor survival skills! Today, we spent the morning with 24 young people from the Alexandria-Mt. Vernon Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.

They learned the basics of emergency preparedness, how to build an emergency shelter using ponchos, and how to start a fire using ferro rods. 🔥🏕️

This was a great group of teens who were eager to learn and weren’t afraid to get hands-on. We hope everyone walked away with some new skills, a little more confidence in the outdoors, and maybe even a newfound love for being in the woods.

Most importantly, they learned a few skills that could help them survive in the woods if they ever needed them.

Teaching the next generation how to enjoy the outdoors AND be prepared while doing it! 💪🏾

We had an amazing time on our Goombay Skip Day Hike 2 at White Oak Canyon! 💦

It was the perfect summer adventure—hiking through the beautiful mountains, chasing waterfalls, and cooling off with a swim in the natural pools.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made the experience so much fun.

The Goombay Summer Turf Kickball regular season has officially come to an end, and now it’s time for the PLAYOFFS! 🏆

We’ve got some great matchups scheduled for next Tuesday, and you already know the competition is going to be intense.

Here is the one social hike you don’t want to miss-The Big A$$ Hike & Cookout! Sunday, Aug. 30th from 10am-5pm at Anacostia Park.

Join Goombay Adventurers for a day on the water as we head out on the Chesapeake Bay for one of our favorite fall adventures—CRABBING!

We have two dates scheduled, and if you’ve been with us before, you already know the boat fills up fast!

Each year, we typically come back with 5–7 bushels of crabs, and the total catch is split between just 6 participants. So bring that BIG cooler because you’re going to need it! 🦀

I have worked at summer camps since 1979 and the biggest lesson I have learned, is that the counselors had more fun than the kids 😆.

We had a great time hosting Camp Poolooza and make sure you join us next year.
