I used to believe you tell the universe what you want and it delivers.

Now I’m wondering…

What if the desire wasn’t mine at all, but something given to me?

I declared I’d be in Africa at 40.

I canceled the trip.
Let it go.
Focused on service.

Then I was invited to Mauritania for the African Conference for Peace.

This one stretched my understanding of alignment.

-As I mentioned in my last post, a master of one thing doesn’t speak to me. What I’m great at, my gift, can be expressed in so many ways. And I know I’m not unique in this. Many of us feel compelled to work and create in multiple ways despite the labels professional standards ask us to hold.

Where I, and some of us, may feel unique is our willingness to live in multiple spaces at once. Turning compulsion to action. For me, it’s speaking | teaching | coaching | training | performing. I’ve been working in these spaces for years, but a little compartmentalized.

It’s only a few things in life that are truly worth it. As parents we know that our children rank heavy on that list and there’s nothing we wouldn’t do to make the path better for them. I’ve made a lot of decisions to be the man my father asked me to be for my baby. She’s sweet, sensitive, quiet (until she’s feels safe), considerate, smart, and expressive. I’m looking forward to a long journey of not just being her father, but being in her community. Her tribe! Happy 17th young Queen. You are already her. Before you even arrived. God knew you.
