Fletcher’s Cove Parkrun event #478!

A hot and humid morning after the rainstorm which created a lot of puddles. We still had a big turnout total 88 Parkrunners.

The global parkrun community had a tremendous milestone today as the one millionth event was held. And in the USA, the millionth parkrunner crossed the finish line. Here at Fletcher’s Cove we were joined by survivors from the Ulman Foundation Cancer to 5K program.

Fletcher’s Cove Parkrun event #474
Wow, what a big turnout we had today, with Hardy Middle School and their families among our 156 participants! We had one milestone and a few visitors from Mexico and Boston. For the first time in a long time, it happened: there was no tail walker! We did not realize that until late, so poor Fiona, the course marshal, had to wait a bit longer. But all ended well, and we all applauded when she came to the finish, still smiling!

Fletcher’s Cove Parkrun event #473
It’s an overcast kind of day which is great for Parkrun or any run! Fletcher’s Cove parkrun was delighted to welcome young runners and walkers from Eaton Elementary! Many were first time parkrunners and everyone had an amazing time.

We also welcomed visitors from several different states and as far away as the UK, and we were delighted that our UK visitors were able to help fill two volunteer roles.
Wendy Davidson was the event photographer for today, thanks Wendy.

Fletcher’s Cove Parkrun #472. There was a marathon/half marathon race at Fletcher’s Cove today, and they took all the parking spots! Even down near the river, the lots were completely full. I, the volunteer photographer, had to circle around and wait for a spot to open, so by the time I got to the start, everyone was already out on the course. But I managed to catch quite a few good shots! We had a total of 75 Parkrunners and our wonderful volunteers. It was a good day indeed!

Fletcher’s Cove Parkrun # 471 was a blast!
Gentle temps gave us 11 Personal Bests! We were also proud to have 5 participants brand new to parkrun and 2 more who ran at Fletcher’s Cove for the first time. Special kudos to Caleb who not only hit his 50th parkrun today but also got a PB!! And many thanks to the ever-thoughtful Maria and Nancy for the refreshments, special made cookies and decorations.

Fletcher’s Cove Parkrun #470.

What a beautiful day with the perfect temperature! We had seven people who did their first-ever parkrun, and another ten who were brand new to Fletcher's Cove. Add in another five personal bests, and there was a lot to celebrate. There were 72 grand total participants. The event went so well that we decided to do another one next Saturday - hope to see you there!
