After seven years, the WNBAâs first-ever commissioner is stepping down at the end if 2026.
Under Engelbert, the league grew from 12 to 18 teams, landed its most transformative media rights and CBA deals to date, and hit record highs in viewership, attendance, and franchise valuations. She also led a $75 million capital raise, the largest-ever investment round in womenâs sports, and introduced private charter travel for teams, a first in U.S. womenâs pro sports.
