We Excel at the Exceptional - June 15, 2026
Another busy weekend in our Village! A recap of events that make this a great place to live or visit. On Saturday, June 13th, if you wanted to capture a Tom Sawyer experience, the Warwick Historical Society held a fence painting event in Lewis Park. Volunteers came out to put on a fresh coat of paint on the picket fence that is on the side of Main Street of the park.
At Veterans Memorial Park, the Warwick Skatepark Initiative, Hudson Valley Film Festival and the Village of Warwick offered up the first Skate Jam at the Robert J Newhard Skatepark. The event included a live DJ, Mary Collura, a skateboard clinic by Shred Inc and a competition. Well attended and fun!
In the early evening was a Village Concert at Stanley Deming Park. The Big Band Sounds of Blue Heaven Swing Sextet filled the air on a beautiful evening in the park.
Downtown was jumping with the hope of the NY Knicks winning the 5th game of the season. Folks found the perfect spot at one of our local restaurants and taverns to watch a nail-biting game and a final last quarter that lead to a win. The Knicks won the NBA Championship after a 53-year drought. A great moment for New York and a fun time in our Village.
Sunday, June 14th was the annual Pride Event. The celebratory parade ended at Memorial Park with music and dance performances as well as food trucks and support organizations set up to give out valuable information. This year Chuck Ragsdale, from the CORE Theatre Group and advocate for LGBTQ rights, received a well-deserved honor.
Sunday, June 14th was Flag Day, and Main Street was adorned with American flags. At 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall was the annual Flag Day Ceremony. Led by Commander Tony Cosimano, the American Legion, joined by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, paid homage to our Flag. The event ended with a ceremonial flag burning of faded or damaged flags and a rendition of taps played beautifully and reverently by American Legion member Raphael Colon.
What a weekend! A mix of fun celebration, pride, and patriotism. We have something good here!
Coming up? On Friday, June 19th, Warwick Union AME and the Caribbean Community of Orange County will be hosting a Juneteenth event at Stanley Deming Park with a multi-cultural celebration with music, dance and food. All are welcome!
The evening of Saturday, June 20th. The Warwick Valley Historical Society will be at Lewis Park for their annual, Party in the Park themed, Stars, Stripes and Summer Whites to honor the Nationβs 250th and their 120th Anniversary. This is a ticketed event and sold out.
