Capital region, tryout season is upon us. Here at FSA Albany we'd like to challenge regional tryout culture.

Parents in an effort of improvement USA soccer culture we'd like to make a few suggestions that may help shift the mindset.

Encourage yourselves and your player to view the tryout as you the consumer trying out us the product. Flip the narrative and do exactly what the term says only in reverse. Try a club out, try a training session, try and participate with the current members on that team, try and engage with the perspective coach. Gain critical information to insure that you've done your part to put you and your player in the correct environment. This will also pull out some of the anxiety around tryouts.

Here are some ways to do that:

-Talk to partents and players who have had a year or more with the club and coach.

-Participate in a routine training session.

-Observe a game and or training session.
