Dear Briarwood Family,
I am Maegen (Barnett) Ware and I will be taking over the Booster Club this year. I am so excited for this opportunity to continue the great efforts of Laney and Wayne Cheely. They have been such a positive and encouraging team to work with through Booster. They will truly be missed!

I graduated from Briarwood in 2000 and I am married to Blake Ware. Blake is currently helping with Mighty Bucs football and we have our three children at Briarwood; Jaxson (4th), Charli (8th) and Addison (11th). Both my brothers, Jamie and Brad Barnett, played sports and graduated from Briarwood in the 90s and my father, Jimmy Barnett, coached at Briarwood for several years. The Buccaneer pride runs deep in my family!

I know this will be a challenging endeavor but I am looking forward to the upcoming year and the great things that we can get accomplished!

Wayne and I would like to thank you all for all the support the last few years of running the booster club. Volunteering is a love of mine for my school and we really enjoyed it. We have decided to hand over the torch as our last graduated this past year. We have found an alumni that we think will do great things with the booster club. We will let her announce herself on this page soon but we could not be more thrilled to see what is to come.
We encourage you to please volunteer and support the school in any way you can. This school was literally built by men who worked all day then came to the school in the evening and weekends and laid the brick one by one for the old gym. That is so inspiring. Be sure not to say why do we have concessions and instead change your way of thinking and say, hey I will get to catch up with so and so today. It is important for your kids to see you volunteer and give back. We changed things over the years and have most concessions covered by athletics. They get to start a business and earn money for their sport. The least you can do is sign up once a year.
Wayne and I tried to make changes and help things run smoother and tried to make things easier on our parents and coaches. We enjoyed supporting the athletes in all they may need. Most of all we enjoyed being able to tell you all the positive things that were happening every month. This Summer we have gotten new discount cards made and Gameday cheer, Middle school football, and cross country are selling cards to help offset some costs that they had. This has been a great way to help the athletes get involved while also preserving the account some. We also paid $7000 towards the renovation of the outside of the field house. It is looking great. There are several other things in the works like a new ac in the back of the concession so we can help keep our parents cool and our ice machine will not work as hard. Once again thank you and please keep up the support.

We had our last sports banquet of the year last night. There are few people I need to thank and give shout outs to for their help!
Rebekah Mitchell for her fabulous decorating skills.
Fran Coxwell baked a ham to help with our meat.
Jean Thigpen made a delicious banana pudding.
Lacey Hughes had no children involved in this one and made a delicious dessert.
Katie Turnbull always ready to help and made a dessert so others could focus on bringing sides so we would have enough sides.
It takes a village and we are always thankful for those that will go above and beyond for our kids! Go Bucs!

BBQ is back for the Spring!!!

The Booster Club has been busy even if you haven’t seen us. Here are few things we have been able to do for our kids.
We held the basketball and twirl sports banquet. We cooked walking tacos and chili and it was a hit. We provided the softball team with some money and our left over concessions to start raising money as they run our baseball concessions. This helps cut out on having to ask the classes so much and gives them a great opportunity to raise money. We also sent the literary team that advanced to state with some money to get a meal and snack. We then helped out in some degree with all 3 meals served for our kids in the play. The booster does not just support our sports teams. Please always volunteer to help in concessions so we can keep helping out with all middle and highschool kids activities. Go Bucs!

We had a great Sports Banquet on Wednesday. We have a few people we need to thank for helping make it successful. Mr. Marvin Norman for cooking our Boston butts. Big Chic in Washington for donating potato salad and cole slaw. Also our decorator Rebekah Mitchell, the tables were beautiful. It takes a village and we are thankful for ours!
