“Ben Strelnick AKA, Benny or Benatore passed away last week in a cave diving accident. Benny was loved by all and a good friend to many. He lived life to the fullest, never holding back and always pursing his dreams with earnest passion.
He was part of the Sugarbush Patrol family for many years and as a lift captain was an inspirational leader. He took part in the construction of many of the patrol stations on the hill including Heaven’s Gate patrol which will soon hold a memorial dedicated to our dear friend and colleague.
Our thoughts go out to the Benny’s family. Parents should never outlive their child, I can only imagine what they are going through. Please take a moment to remember all the great times you may have had with Benny, he left this world way too soon.” - Chad Borofsky

It is with heavy hearts that we report the death of DAN medic Ben Strelnick. Ben passed away while cave diving on Friday. He began working in DAN Medical Services in 2021, combining his love of outdoor recreation with his passion for emergency medicine. Ben was a shining light here at DAN and a friend to many. He wrote insightful articles and offered compassion and a friendly voice to those who called the Emergency Hotline. Ben had an adventurous spirit, and in addition to diving loved mountain biking, winter sports, rock climbing, and riding his motorcycle. He will be missed.
