Please join me in congratulating Dogwood Glen Golf Academy's next student of the month. Gaige Eppard began taking lessons in late winter in the Dogwood Glen Golf course simulator room. By the time spring rolled around he was ready and eager to try his new learned skills on the Short range and the course. His willingness to listen, practice and stay focused on lessons each week has been fundamental in his development as a golf student. We are very proud of his accomplishments. Way to go Gaige, keep up the hard work and maintain that positive attitude at all times.

On. Monday June 22, 2026 Dogwood Glen Golf Course hosted it's first Little City Jr. Tour event. To say that it was a little damp would be an understatement. The overnight rain continued into the scheduled starting time of 8:00 A.M. The decision was made to delay the start time by 2 hours resulting in the combined starting times of the middle school participants and the high school participants teeing off simultaneously in a shotgun format. It was a very wet start without any sunshine and the fairways and greens were saturated. However, this did not dampen the spirits of the junior golfers as they dredged thru the wet conditions and played the hardest and best that they could.

At the end, in Little City Junior style, 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place awards were handed out to those in each category of middle school boys, middle school girls, high school boys and high school girls. you can see the names and winners in each category at the "Little City Jr. Tour" site by clicking the link in this post.

With that being said, I would like to express how proud I was to have 3 of the entry's into this tournament being members of the Dogwood Glen Golf Academy, and one who is a member of the Dogwood Glen Golf Course. Academy members, Ty Dennis from Columbia City, Hendrix Tyley from Huntington, and Cooper Ralston from Mt. Etna. And course member, Jude Davis from Huntington.

Congratulations to Jude Davis taking first place in the Boys high school category shooting a 74. Cooper Ralston took second place in the middle school boys category, while Hendrix Tyler placed in the top 10 in his first ever Little City event.

On Friday, June 12th our very own Academy member, Cooper, DA-COOP Ralston competed in his first ever golf match since starting golf lessons last July with Instructor Mike Davis. Cooper has not only been a fast learner, but has also become a club regular here at Dogwood Glen Golf Course. He has caught the eye of quite a few of the members here while playing and practicing. Coop is also one of the Academy's former "Student of the Month" recipients as well as one of the most promising up and coming junior golfers here at the Academy. To say that we are proud of Cooper would be an understatement. His attitude, golf work ethics and dedication to the craft is evident in every aspect of his playing. There are still many many hills to climb, mountains to conquer and skills to refine, but with that being said, You all need to keep your ears tuned and eyes open to the next 7 years of his school golf career. Because it's my opinion that his name is going to become a household name in the local and regional golf areas. So from all of us here at the Academy, and Dogwood Glen Golf Course, congratulations Cooper on making top 10 in your first ever match. We will be watching for your name as time passes for even more and even greater golf accomplishments. Keep it up buddy. we re all very proud of you!!!

Young Mr. Gaige working with a different set of irons yesterday trying to build a better swing pattern, ball flight, and confidence. I think it’s starting to work 😊. Looks good buddy. Proud of your hard work in this endeavor 👍👍👍

Well even though Mother nature has tried repeatedly, and with vicious intent, to dampen the spirit and even the attitudes of some of us here at the academy, I would like to personally introduce you to one of our Academy members that did not let it affect her positive attitude AT ALL!!! Our newest member of the Dogwood Glen Golf Academy's "Student Of The Month Club"
Shya Sickley.. I am very proud to announce that Shya has been selected as our April 2026 Winner. It has been so fun watching her progress and improve her golf swing in the simulator, on the wedge and short game range, and even on the Dogwood Glen Golf Course. The best part is not just seeing her improvement, but watching her never ending positive attitude each and every lesson. If it was possible for only a smile and determination combined to elevate your skill level, then this young lady would be the one to prove it could happen. We are all so very proud of Shya and enjoy the opportunity to assist her in achieving her goals in regards to the game of golf. All of the staff her at the Dogwood Glen Golf Course and the Academy want to say congratulations Shya, well deserved !!!

With all the little ones getting out of school soon now is the time to start scheduling for your summer lessons for the juniors. We have some new and exciting things. We’re going to be doing with the junior students this summer starting with our academy Friday program we’re gonna start doing, more details coming soon on that Also having some special guest golfers come in and do some clinics for the juniors on different techniques, including bunker shots and more.
