started two new bow builds both Osage hunting bows started the 66 " on Saturday Aug 16 and the 64" on Sunday Aug 17, Test fired both yesterday Sunday Aug 24, I've picked up some staves from Jon War Hammer I've actually made several successful hunting bows out of Osage stock from Jon and Jim. today I'm posting mainly the heavily scaled down journey of the 64" with some of the photos has the 66 in as well .will probably post the 66-in tomorrow tomorrow or sometime this week .both of them turned out to be hunting bows from 60 lb to 65 range .they performed very well .

Happy New Year Everyone.
Somedays I need to do somethings for fun and experimentation. Since I spend a good portion of each year building bows to order it becomes challenging to be allowed the time to things just for fun or creativity...Just Play..so today I finally got to tiller one of the scores of these "Fun Projects" since it's the holiday..hey I think I should be able to enjoy a little time to stimulate creativity and I use times like this to discover new things along the way. Its a simple 50" Recurve that was once a 72" ELB that tanked in the process and about 20" went into my infamous Pile of Shame..and the rest is recycled into this little guy here. I have done this with countless ELBs or 68" reflexed bows that do not make it as planned. My upcoming market will be takedown bows..as I seem to accumulate a reasonable amount of failed Yew, Osage, ash, hickory, red oak, maple...and so on. I love bow rescue...This bow had to have the D cross section flattened to accommodate the static handle which I use 1/8"x 1 1/8 by 8" stacked Yew strips and use TBIII and makes a bulletproof handle build up that deals very well with the natural tension and flexibility created from the previous form of a D cross section bend through handle. To be interesting I use a chunk of osage to create an arrow shelf build out. to create the seamless look I will inlay a strip of yew and will disappear (well won't be as visible). Will place a pice of rahide on the face ob the bow as arrow pass and look clean there. Gonna go with diamondback cover. Horn tips. Well I'll show the bow upon completion. I hope to do test-fire this weekend. along with a few other bows made to order. Enjoy your holiday :)
