Four Warden High School girls wrestlers have officially qualified for the state tournament, showcasing the continued growth of the program.
Senior Captain Ashley Cruz (135 pounds) returns to state for the third time in her career. A two-time state participant, Cruz enters the tournament with experience, leadership, and a clear goal—to leave with a medal this year. Her dedication and consistency have set the standard for the team all season.
Sara Lino (190 pounds), a sophomore, is making her second straight appearance at state after qualifying as a freshman last year. Competing in tough weight classes, Lino continues to build on her early success and brings valuable experience back to the mat.
At 145 pounds, sophomore Kiley Huber has earned her first trip to the state tournament. Her steady improvement and commitment throughout the season have paid off in a well-deserved qualification.
Freshman Evelynn Velasquez-Garcia will also make her state debut at the Tacoma Dome. In her first year of wrestling, Evelynn has shown tremendous determination and a willingness to learn, putting in the work every single day to improve her skills. Her growth this season is just the beginning, and she is assured to continue developing and making an impact in the years ahead.
These four athletes have put in the work day after day, showing up, pushing through challenges, and committing themselves to improvement. Their qualification is a reflection of their discipline, resilience, and belief in one another as teammates. Warden Athletics Warden High School
