The Rockies got their shot at redemption against the Devil Rays in a rematch of Opening Day. Unlike their previous matchup, this one was a nail biter right up to the final out. The Rockies jumped out to a four run lead after Joe Gosiewski Sr demolished a grand slam over the left field fence. The Devil Rays fought their way back to tie the game at five, where it would stay until the ninth. After two quick outs, the Rockies put together a rally, cumulating with a massive two-run double by Jonathan Maldonado. Joey Gosiewski Jr slammed the door shut, ending the game with the tying runs on base. The Rockies improve to 2-1 and look to stay hot against the Pirates this Sunday.

The Rockies grab their first victory of the season as an offensive explosion consisting of three long balls helped to mercy the Yankees by a score of 13-3. Joey Gosiewski put together an outstanding pitching performance taking a no hitter into the 5th. He ended the day with 9 K’s. Jonathan Maldonado (2), Kevin Martino (1) and Joey Gosiewski all homered.

Next game is next Sunday in a rematch against the Devil Rays.

The Rockies look to move past last week’s tough loss and get in the win column for the first time this season this Sunday against the Yankees. First pitch 12:30. ⚾️

Rockies lose a tough one in our season opener as one huge Devil Rays inning decided the game. Damien Sherilla started the game off strong with 3 IP, 5 K’s and 0 H. Joe Simmons had a day at the plate with two hits and two runs scored. Jonathan Maldonado roped a moonshot home run to left field to get the scoring started for the Rockies in the 1st. Lots of bright spots in our first loss. On to Game 2 next week. ⚾️
