The weather has been delightfully more cool than hot, with some rains, snow up high. That melts quickly. There is probably more snow hitting up high right now. My marigolds seem to be a great place for bees to take naps! And a robin working hard on nesting

We went upriver yesterday to harvest a bit of balsamroot leaves and flowers to make a decoction for respiratory health this winter [or for summer, hope not, colds]. A late season big horn sheep traffic jam. No rams in this bunch. Normally they have moved up higher.
On our road, 3 cow elk. They may have calves bedded down near-by [within 400 yards or so] but we've not seen them yet.
I believe the one in back gave me the raspberry [last photo].
They, too, are going to be moving up to higher country soon.

It came to our attention from one of our Patreons that there is a video out by the name of The Cartridge P. O. Ackley Built That Re*****on Stole--and Renamed. The "creator" is listed as Arms Legacy.
It is AI generated. AI did manage to put a few photos of Ackley in there, but none of Les Bowman, who is mentioned, nor of some of the others mentioned. The greatest majority of those photos are AI generated. The voice is AI and the information is a lot of BS, full lies and innuendos.
Randy had the story about this directly from Les, who worked with P. O. There was no stealing involved. Just a slam on Re*****on.
There is just a ton of BS! I checked the channel, and it appears this is standard fare.
BEWARE.
The AI generated voice pronounced Nosler as Nose-ler and Hornady and Horn-addy. SMH.

Randy is considering whether to address this or not. Time will tell. We can't address it as comments on the video, as no comments are allowed. Go figure. It doesn't want to be called on the BS, I guess. ;) Sadly, the channel has 607 subscribers. Don't fall for the lies.

Last night on the way to fill the feeders for birds, which include house, Cassian and gold finch, Vespers and Brewer's sparrows, with an occasional young red-winged blackbird, I caught a glimpse of this bee on the marigolds.
It was resting, sleeping after a busy day. I was able to grab the camera, try some different settings. I did crop them each somewhat.
Five minutes later, it was gone. Not sure of the species, but a hard working bee just in need of a snooze.
I captured a lovely cloud when I went to check on it.

Yesterday the East Gate of Yellowstone Park opened for the season. The snow pack at Sylvan Pass is 59%. Sad. Lowest Randy remembers ever seeing it. Also, he has never seen the lake ice free the opening week. No trace of ice at all. We didn't go in far, just to Lake Butte Overlook, as I am not up to a long day right now. We saw one buffalo in the Park. Elk and deer out of the Park [sorry, no photos] and 4 nests of peregrine falcons. The camera that I use almost exclusively for videos is NOT impressive for the bird photos, unlike my other, which is on the fritz. I had to do a bit of editing to get 2 decent photos.

When my opinion of a hunting cartridge doesn't match Mr. Selby's opinion, I change mine, and go try to learn what he knows. Every time I follow this pattern, I get better at what I do.

I wanted to make y'all aware of a custom rifle maker in Wyoming that made a rifle for me 10 years ago that I still use all the time and has proven to be a very accurate and reliable gun. His name is Randy Selby and he has many decades of rifle building experience. I think it's safe to say he is "old school" in almost every way, and I mean that in a positive way. He recently has started making some short videos on the topics of rifle building, hunting, etc... that I think you would find interesting on these topics. would highly recommend him for custom rifle building and rifle services. He and his wife provide excellent customer service as well.

Thank you Mr. Selby for the knowledge you provide for the rest of us. I recently read the book P O Ackley, America’s Gunsmith where you are mentioned by name.

Nothing but facts come from Randy and all come from real world experience! I wish I could afford one of his custom-built rifles! This man is a living legend!

I recently found your videos. Thoroughly enjoy them. I appreciate: Your willingness to share your knowledge. Better yet I’ll call it wisdom. In this day few will do that because they fear losing their competitive edge. You don’t have to worry about that. Because your heart is truly in what you do. Your courage to shed true, practical insight into issues that increasingly harm our game, and make it increasingly difficult for those who choose to live close to the land.
