The Wantagh Warriors just wrapped up competition at the Summer Nationals. Over the past two days our team comprised of solely Wantagh wrestlers tested themselves against some of the top club/all-star teams on the east coast……seven dual meets in total we were competitive in all of them and managed to earn a couple of dual wins over some New Jersey clubs. Our guys competed really well & looked tough. While individual improvements are evident we obviously still have a ways to go. The coaching staff is so proud of the group effort by the young men and how well they handled themselves. We’ll get back in the room & keep taking forward steps in our training.

Thank You to our parents for making the trip to support the guys & a special shoutout to Mr. Cutrone for organizing all of the logistics of the event.

Onward we go.

Great Job by Wantagh today at the New Jersey Summer Duals. In a tournament comprised of All-Star & club teams the Warriors were the only single district squad in attendance. We finished in 4th place (15 teams) with a 2-3 dual meet record. More importantly as a program we got better through tough competition as we look to continue to build ourselves this offseason. Great Job by all of the wrestlers who competed regardless of the W/L’s on the day. Thank You to all of our awesome parents who came to support the young men & Mr. Cutrone who spearheaded the logistics of organizing our squad.

We are Warriors & we are coming.

Today represented a very special day for the program. This marked the first annual Chris Araoz Memorial Tournament at Wantagh. The ability to celebrate Chris’s life through this competition while also having all of the proceeds raised go towards a college trust for his son shows the impact that Chris had on so many people around him. Chris Araoz was a NHSCA National Wrestling Champion for the Warriors but a much better person than he was a wrestler & he was one of the best to have represented the program.

Days like this require the efforts of so many. Most notable the Araoz family that was in attendance. Aeriell Clem who ran the tournament & provided all of the equipment at the scorers tables, our AMAZING parents who took time working the kitchen, our table workers and THE WRESTLERS (all 200 of you) who wrestled their butts off.

Chris would have loved this & it was a great tribute to his life. This will be an annual event.

A sincere THANK YOU to all who attended & participated. We’ll see you next year!
