Good morning players & parents! Our in-house soccer season starts this week so here's some information...
U8 (2017/2018, Mon & Weds) start tonight at 6pm
U6 (2019/2020, Tues & Thurs) start tomorrow at 5:45pm
U10 (2015/2016, Tues & Thurs) Start tomorrow at 6pm
U12 (2013/2014, Tues & Thurs) start tomorrow at 6pm
U4 Sparks (Tues & Thurs) will start on September 28th.
What ball size do we need? U4, U6 & U8 use a size 3, U10 and older user a size 4.
Do players need shinguards? Yes. Soccer is a competitive sport and players will need shin guards to protect their legs.
What else do we need? Players should dress appropriately for the weather. Cleats are advised, especially in the older age groups - soccer is a dynamic sport with rapid changes of direction. Cleats help players move and turn without slipping.
How do we communicate with the team and coaches? Every parent should download the PlayMetrics app that you used to signup your player. This is where we'll do all our important communication and updates. Very rarely do we use facebook messenger to put out information or communicate as our volunteers cannot get to it and a timely manner. Please use the app to communicate with the coach or talk to coach Matt (U12) who is our Club President.
When do we get uniforms? Uniforms (jerseys) are issued when we play our games. The first part of season we practice and hone skills before building team rosters that will play against each other later in the season. Uniforms typically come with black socks. Players should have their own shorts, preferably in black to match their team mates.
Are games at different times? Games will typically take place in the normal practice window and will start in October and run through until Wildfire Day on November 15th.
Can we sponsor jerseys? YES! We seek sponsors for teams and will print the business name on the jerseys that players will wear for games (and continue to wear outside of soccer for years to come!!) Team sponsorship is $250 to our registered 501(C)(3). You can choose to sponsor the team of your choice on a first come, first served basis!
What if there's rain? We cancel some practices due to weather if it's a safety concern or if it impacts the quality of the session. We will notify parents through the PlayMetrics app and here on Facebook by 4:30 on the day of practice.
Do we have to stay at practice? If your kids are in U4, U6 or U8 yes. This allows the coaches to coach and not have to focus on bathroom breaks, inattentive children etc. We appreciate all the help we can get on the coaching field! Bring your chair and some bug spray and learn the game alongside your child!
Can I help the coach? Talk to your coach! We always love help and anyone who has knowledge of the game is of great value. Even if they don't, sometimes we just need help 'herding the cats'.
We have some concerns who do we talk to? First talk to your coach after practice in private or through the PlayMetrics app. Second, you can talk to the club president Matt at [email protected].
We want this to be an enjoyable experience for parents and players alike and we know we have to adapt as the season goes along. Our coaches and board volunteer their time to share their knowledge and skills keeping this family club in our community for years to come. We always strive to give our very best. Our coaches have mutiple years of playing and/or coaching experience that feed the positive experience keeping players coming back year after year.
See you on the pitch!
Go Wildfire!
