Built, not given.
Calan Thornton is making noise at Acalanes High School — competing with confidence, staying aggressive, and showing what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

Vince Ellis has been working with Marcus since he could barely dribble a basketball — and now the results speak for themselves. The skill. The confidence. The understanding of the game. That foundation wasn’t built overnight.

This is what long-term development looks like.

If you’re serious about taking your game to the next level, our HS Skills Lab starting February 23rd is where that next jump happens. Structured work. High-level detail. Real results.

That’s the RISE.

History doesn’t happen by accident.

Brayde Kuykendall is one of the greatest players to ever come through Cal High — over 1,000 career points, countless big moments, and a standard of excellence that speaks for itself. Now, he’s taking that same edge and work ethic to the next level as a Santa Clara commit.

The numbers tell part of the story. The work tells the rest.
That’s the RISE.

Buckets on buckets 💥

Davi Freitas has been putting in work this season — earning a starting spot at Miramonte HS and letting it show on the scoreboard. The confidence, the poise, the shot-making… none of it is accidental.

When you commit to the work, the results follow.
That’s the RISE.

Confidence is earned.

Our RISE Move of the Week is the Pinoy Step🇵🇭🔥

A deadly ball fake that keeps defenders guessing. Watch how it forces the defender to mistime their block—once they’re off balance, you’re in control. Add this to your bag and make the game easier.

We are in RISE.

Our Rise move of the week is “Kill Dribbles.” Change levels of your dribble by taking a really low dribble that you then pick up with both hands to protect the ball.  This move can be used against your primary defender as seen in this clip, or used against a helpside defender who is crashing down to get a steal.

Confidence is earned.

RISE Move of the Week: Step Back

A powerful way to create space against an aggressive defender — not just for a shot, but to open up the drive as well. The key? Attack first. When you get downhill before stepping back, you force the defense to react and give yourself options.

For younger players especially, understand this: shooting out of the step back is difficult and shouldn’t be the first option. Read the defense. Make the right play.

Confidence is earned.

Being comfortable being uncomfortable isn’t a catchphrase — it’s the work.

Kobe said it best: growth happens when you’re willing to mess up in practice, push past your comfort zone, and stay locked in through the struggle. At RISE, we believe real results come from leaning into that discomfort, taking chances, and trusting the process every single rep.

Confidence is earned.

This week’s Rise move of the week is the “Dream Shake” named after one of the best players of all time- Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon. Misdirection and faking out a defender is key.  Great players aren’t one dimensional and can hurt you in a multitude of ways.  Playing in the post still requires you to be dynamic.  As long as you can make a hook, the dream shake will get you open.
