I recorded a podcast today, where I talked about how imposter syndrome hits BIPOC deeper in the context of racism, and my own story internalizing messages of not belonging. My heart was racing the whole time.
I shared how I support other BIPOC wellness professionals using Brainspotting, a healing modality I’m passionate about, and my voice was shaking.
Because even in spaces where my voice is welcomed, as a Mexipina there is still colonized thinking and questioning if I belong and deserve to be in such spaces.
But I did it. It did it because I know how important is for people of color to take up space in a society where we are constantly told we can’t, shouldn’t, or don’t deserve to.
BIPOC folks, we are out here. We are out here holding it down, and doing amazing work. We deserve to be heard, and take up space. Every. single. one of us.
For anyone else that struggles like me, join me in pushing against internalized bu****it to live out loud, even if your voice shakes. I’m with you and cheering you on ❤️
