Today we started the practice for the 4-H Invitationals. We have a short time to get ready for this competition, but we have planned for a few special practices away as well some home sessions. We will hone in on some problem areas while we have fun doing it. Enjoy our journey.

That's a Wrap! Our End Of Season Pizza Party was enjoyed by all! They shot till you couldn't see any more.
The kids pictured at the beginning were awarded with new shot towels for their vest. They ALL had broke 1000+ clays over the course of the season.
The games that were played were Blackout, (our fave) Wait and See, and Sporting Clays (only 4 stations)
After that, it started getting too dark. No prizes were on the line but Bragging rights is real. I am so fortunate to have these kids on my team. They are great and I will always leave laughing at least one of them. I look forward to see how they grow over the summer. Where it is the end of the season for some of them, I still have some that will stay on a practice schedule for Invitations in August. Stayed tuned for those updates.

Saturday, was the day...State 4H Shotgun Jamboree! These kids have worked so hard to get to this day. We were at Nashville Gun Club , and it was a beautiful day. We had 2 Senior Teams and 1 Junior Team. I don't have all of the official rankings yet but I am hoping they will be posting them this week. I can say that the Junior team ranked 8th and the Senior Teams ranked 8th and 13th. There was some really good competition this year. Our teams give it their all and left it on the field. I am so proud of them and could ask any more of them.

Aa some of you know, the Senior shooters have to qualify to go to the next level (Invitationals). Five of them qualified to go to the next level in August. So, our season isn't quite over.we will have a small break as we celebrate the end of season with our pizza party and games. I'll continue to share their progress over the next couple of months. Here's to training to go to Nebraska.

Well, it is the last official practice for the season. Next Saturday will be the 4H State Shotgun Jamboree. We went to Crossville Shooting Sports Park today to have a little more practice with the mics. They struggled with them but that is why we practice. They had to shoot between the raindrops but this was one of our fastest practices yet. They came in and got it done.

I want you to know how proud we are of these kids and their dedication to this sport. Many think that you just stand there and shoot things but it really is a lot harder than you know. These kids have to learn the rules of the games and all the safety protocols before they even get to start. Then they have to deal with the constant change in weather and adjust while holding a 10lb+ shotgun. They have to move while finding a moving object in the bright sunshine or a monsoon, shoot it at the perfect spot for the clay to break. While this is an individual sport, they still have teammates that take the time to build each other up and look out for them. They call their breaks because you don't always see a break especially when it is super small. I am proud of my teams, past and present.
