After the weekend we had keeping notes is essential!

Most short track racers drive home and forget what happened by Monday. A notebook forces you to be honest. Here are the 5 things we log every single race night - adjustments, best lap, stagger, one thing I did right, and one thing I messed up.

The last one stings sometimes. But the guys willing to write down where they screwed up are the same guys who stop making the same mistake twice. It’s not complicated neither is it difficult. It is something every racer should be doing!

🔴RACE RECAP🔴

We had a solid Top 5 car for Saturday night’s Twin 25s at Wall Stadium. I unfortunately threw it away with three laps to go with my own two hands in Feature Race number one on the night.

We started 3rd for the first feature after making the redraw. Fell to 4th early and held my ground there for 22 laps. With 3 to go I came off a two and the rear stepped out on me and next thing I knew I was around. Went to the video and was hoping that maybe I hit the apron on exit or if I even got spun around with contact. Unfortunately the video shows me just losing it and the 18 even giving me room to try to save it. Billy Both simply ran me hard and clean all race and I made a mistake.

Ultimately that mistake changed the trajectory of our entire night. We ended up finishing 16th in the first race and for the second feature the track inverted the top 10. We started 16th and decided to make some changes to car to try something different. We made some ground and stayed out of trouble and wound up finishing 12th.

Simply disappointed for my team as we should’ve had two better finishes if it wasn’t for my mistake. The silver lining… I didn’t see the sign my sister in law made until after the race so I guess I wasn’t slow.

Thank you to my team for busting there butts and fighting the heat all day. And thank you Brian Osborn for being on the spotter stand this weekend and keeping me clean.

Twin 25s were going good but should have been way better. Costly spin with 3 to go in the first feature changed whole trajectory of our night. Built upon what we got but results don’t show for it. Onto the next.
