This weekend I will be attending my last fishing show. I'll have 10 medium / heavy, 6'8" spinning rods to sell. These Backyard Custom Rods are my most popular. I built six Maryland themed rods and two Baltimore Ravens themed rods. The other two are built with my favorite colors. If by chance I happen to sell all of these rods, I will honor this price if you place an order for any of these items at the show. This is going to be a great fishing expo, Brian and his team have done an excellent job of setting things up for it. Hope to see you there.

Well, 2024 is in the books and this was a year that I really thought I was going to slow down. We counted my work orders for the year and I built a total of 418. I called my good friend Stuart Crawford from Mudhole Custom Tackle and he told me that I finished 14th overall in total sales out of over 1500 wholesale customers in my group. Not too bad for a one man show that still builds them by hand with no electric winders. I would just like to thank everyone who gave me the opportunity to build them a custom fishing rod this year I greatly appreciate it.

Now for the big news, 2025 will be my last year of building rods. I have been building rods for over 28 years and have been in business since 2007. I still enjoy building rods and meeting new folks but it's time. I will be attending the Edgemere Bait and Tackle fishing expo February 1 and 2nd, and I will have 10 rods that I have built for sale more to come on that later Looking forward to see what 2025 has in store for me.

I received this special delivery and letter of appreciation today which was a complete surprise. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mud Hole Custom Tackle (now part of the Foundation Outdoor Group) since I started my business in 2007 and have always had such a positive relationship with them. Stuart Crawford and his team at Mud Hole continue to go above and beyond to support my business in so many ways which has strengthened that relationship over the years. I am so honored to receive this acknowledgment from them and know that my business is appreciated. None of this would be possible if it weren’t for the many customers that have put their faith in me so thanks to each and every one of you.

What an incredible year Backyard Custom Rods and Repairs had this year. I cannot think everyone that put confidence in me to build them a custom rod. We added up the totals and I had a record year of building 452 rods. Not too bad for a one man show and I still build them by hand no electric winders. I'm not sure but 2024 "Might" be my last year, 2024 marks my 28th year of building rods.

I would just like to thank everyone that had me build them a Custom rod in 2022. We counted all my work orders up and it was a record year for me 443. Over the the past 4 years I have kept count of the rods I have built and it is close to 2000 rods. Last year I was in the top 10 in sales at Mudhole Custom Tackle out of over 3500 wholesale customers, not sure were I stand this year but for a guy that still builds them by hand that's not to bad. 2023 has already started out great and if you're looking for a nice custom rod at a very fair price let me know and I'll take care of ya. Also I built 26 rods for Xmas gifts last year the most I built. From Backyard Custom Rods I thank you again.

It was an honor to build this rod for one of our veterans that served in our armed forces over in Afghanistan. Thank you Shawn for this opportunity and your service and I hope you liked the way it turned out. A huge thanks to the guys at graphics department for doing the decal it came out awesome looking. Hey Shawn I found the pics I took lol.

What an unbelievable month and a half, I just can't get over all the orders I have been getting in. I can't thank Vince enough for the opportunity to build him 6 rods for the guys that work with him. Some of you might know that Vince was on the History Channel - Forged in Fire and did very well. He's the owner of Dream Forge Knives and makes some of the best knives you can get. If you're in the market for a great knife get in touch with him, you won't be sorry. I also built Tim one of the wildest rods I've ever done. I placed Albalone between the split grip and also above the fore grip and I really like the way it turned out. Sorry I haven't posted some of the other rods that I recently completed, it's just been crazy in the shop.

I have had several guys say they haven't seen any post of rods I have built lately, well I have been extremely busy over the last couple of months. I know it's hard to see them but here are just 17 rods I got done over the past week and a half and I got 8 more rod orders in over the past 2 days. I am extremely grateful and blessed that I can do what I love to do, build a quality fishing rod at a very reasonably price.

Sixgill is offering their Autism reels again this year. I missed out last year but I just ordered 2 spinning reels. If you are looking for a nice rod to match the colors of the reel, my wife came up with a great color scheme. I've built 3 so far, so if your interested in getting one let me know.
