🚨 Xcel vs. DP… what’s the difference? 🚨
If you’re new to gymnastics, this can feel confusing fast.
Here’s the simple breakdown:
DP (Development Program / Compulsory Levels 1–5):
– Everyone does the SAME routines
– Focus is on strong basics + proper technique
– Judged very strictly on form and ex*****on
– Built to create a solid foundation
Xcel Program: (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, sapphire):
– Athletes have CUSTOM routines
– More flexibility in skills and progression
– Still competitive, but a different structure
👉 Neither is “better.”
They’re just different paths.
We focus on what is best for each athlete.
Most people ask, which one is higher or better?
The better question is:
Which one is right for my athlete?

✨ Xcel Levels Can Feel Confusing… But Here’s the Reality ✨
Have you ever noticed two gymnasts competing the same Xcel level… yet their skills look completely different?
One athlete may already be working advanced bar skills, while another is still mastering foundational basics.
And guess what? 👇 Both athletes are exactly where they need to be.
Within every Xcel division, gymnasts progress through different stages: 🔹 Beginner 🔸 Intermediate ⚫ Advanced
All while remaining in the SAME level — Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
That means one gymnast in Gold may compete higher-level tumbling passes, while another is still building consistency and confidence with foundational skills.
Both are successful. Both are improving. Both belong in Gold. 💛
Progress in gymnastics is not one-size-fits-all. Athletes develop skills, strength, confidence, and consistency at different rates — and that’s okay.
✨ Staying in the same level does not mean a gymnast isn’t growing. Sometimes that’s where the biggest improvements happen.
Trust the journey. Trust the progress. 💕
