Granite Baseball 50+ The Real Field Of Dreams One of 9 teams in over 50 Baseball League in New Hampshire. This is a group of great guys who are having more fun than anyone over 50 ought to have.

We play real baseball (not softball) every Saturday from around April 15 to August 15. Teams include, "Grays" "Brewers" "Nationals" "Lowell Millers"
Wakefield Warriors" Diamond Aces and the "Mets".

Well, the 2024 season has come to an end. We won four games in the regular season and another two in the playoffs (the first was the play-in game) that portend well for 2025. Now it's on to 60+ play for those of us "mature" enough to be eligible.

Breaking News! The inaugural game of the 60+ NELBL season was played yesterday. The Combo team of Dave Costa's Mets and Stephen Hardy's Granite beat the Brewers/Warriors. Our illustrious skipper, Stephen, caught 6 or 7 innings, and drove in some runs with a 4 for 4 day at the plate and a walk. An amazing day! Way to go Skip!

Last playoff game tomorrow at 9am at Riley Field in Bedford. It has been a tough year and even tougher playoff. We need one win to make the Winter more tolerable. My mind is already thinking about other things!!!!!!

Lost our last regular season game by one run and I was on deck. That is disappointing but getting two grandsons to see Grandpa play the game he loves more than makes up. Playoffs here we come!

Not a bad day for Granite. Played doubleheader against the dreaded Eagles, the first place team. Lost the first game 2-1 even though we had bases loaded in the last inning with no one out. Second game played at NHTI the Eagles had a bit of a meltdown in the last inning and made some uncharacteristic errors and we prevailed 6-5. Feels like the old days when Granite coasted in the regular season and peaked for the playoffs.

Very sad that Bill Buckner died today at 69. He was a wonderful ball player that got a raw deal from fans that could only see that one error. Baseball is a game that favors failure. Fail hitting just 2 out 3 times and you are a star. Nobody wants to make an error but it happens and is just part of the game. I say some of this to justify my errors but mostly to realize what a wonderful game is baseball both the highs and the lows. RIP Bill Buckner

We played some decent baseball Saturday against the Nationals but lost 7-6. Just needed a timely hit in a couple of spots but just did not happen. I grounded out weakly 3 times so I was no help. On to Wednesday night at 7 pm for a makeup game with Mets.

It was disappointing not to have played the opening game yesterday. However, on a positive note it was nice that the METS did not have to start the season with a loss.
