Join us Monday, June 15 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Beachmont VFW for a free Uechi Ryu Karate introduction with Renshi Kevin Linehan.

Renshi Kevin is a 6th Degree Black Belt with over 30 years of experience in Uechi Ryu Karate, sparring, fighting techniques, and real world self defense.

This class is open to the public and perfect for beginners.

I am sharing an excerpt from what a student shared with me. We hope to see you in class!

“Uechi Ryu never cared about touching gloves first for a referee’s point.

It cared about ending the encounter.

That distinction separates combat arts from performance arts.

Today, in an era flooded with social media martial artists and commercial belt factories, Uechi Ryu feels almost rebellious in its simplicity. It asks students to do what modern culture hates:
be patient,
train hard,
repeat basics,
accept discomfort,
and earn progress slowly.

It is not flashy enough for Hollywood.
Not marketable enough for strip mall empires.
Not glamorous enough for quick fame.

But under pressure, those old Okinawan methods still hold weight.

Because violence has not changed.

And neither did Uechi Ryu.”
