Gogebic Miners Roll Past Ironwood Red Devils Behind Huge Day From Olivia Peterson in District Opener 🥎
The Gogebic Miners picked up a 14-0 win over the Ironwood Red Devils today at Ramsay Field, powered by a dominant performance from Olivia Peterson both at the plate and in the circle. They now move on to the District Semi-Final Friday @ Lake Linden-
Hubbell vs Lake Lake Linden-Hubbell at 11 am CT.
Peterson drove in six runs on three hits, including an inside-the-park grand slam in the third inning that broke the game open. She also added RBI singles in the first and fourth innings to lead the Miners offensively.
In the circle, Peterson was just as impressive, striking out 11 batters while allowing only one hit and no runs across five innings without issuing a walk.
The Miners got on the board early in the first inning when Peterson singled to score a run. Gogebic continued to build momentum in the second as Emily DelFavero delivered a two-run single and another run scored on a passed ball.
Gogebic exploded for six runs in the third inning. Lailah Keast drew a bases-loaded walk, DelFavero added another RBI with a walk of her own, and Peterson capped the inning with her inside-the-park grand slam to center field.
The Miners finished with 14 hits on the day. Peterson and Noelle Grace each collected three hits, while DelFavero and Kenly Anderson added multi-hit performances. Gogebic also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks. DelFavero, Audrey Stone, and Carine Cole each worked two walks in the win.
On the bases, the Miners stayed aggressive with six stolen bases, including two from Audrey Stone.
Defensively, Gogebic played a clean game without committing an error.
Aila Ruotsala recorded the lone hit for Ironwood. The Red Devils also played error-free defense, with Kiaya Graser leading the team in fielding chances.
