Wake Forest All-Stars We Back The Pack! Shannon is recognized in the industry for running an excellent, extremely well organized program! Every athlete is important to us.

For more than 10 years under the direction of Shannon Young, the WFAS cheerleading program was a well-established, reputable program that was known for its high standards. For those new to All-Star cheerleading, Young’s Gym was the first gym in Wake County to offer recreational gymnastics and All-Star cheerleading under the same roof in 1994. The cheerleading program name was changed to the Wake F

orest All-Stars in 2003 when Shannon stepped in and decided to increase the competiveness of the teams. At WFAS, we believe in building the whole athlete. Our program does not place emphasis solely on physical strength and competitive achievement, but we also believe in developing the character and values of each of our athletes. Competitive cheerleading provides an excellent opportunity for participants to develop self-confidence, leadership, effective time management and teamwork. We take a personal interest in each of our athletes and believe that our commitment to personalized attention allows each cheerleader to reach her full potential and achieve all of her goals both in the gym and in life. As a small All-Star gym with only 4-5 teams each season, WFAS will once again be able to instill a fun, family atmosphere to its program as in years past. We always took great pride in the loyalty created in our founding families’ years ago and are excited about the opportunity to earn that respect and loyalty from our new families in our program’s rebirth. We look forward to providing an excellent All-Star cheerleading program to the Wake Forest area once again!

How do you sum up and say goodbye to 22 years? I am not really sure you can but here goes…
After 22 years it’s time for me to retire from owning and coaching an all-star program. It has been a wonderful 22 years but I simply want to do something different with my life (not sure what yet 🤣).

I have had the blessing of coaching along side some amazing people for 22 years. If you ever coached for me then Thank You! It was all us as a WFAS coaching family that made the program successful!

I coached some great athletes and the memories I have made with them are too many to be counted. To me it was always about the kids and what they would take away from all-star cheer to use in their adult life. The competitions, wins, losses, trophies, banners, etc were just temporary; it’s the lessons we all learned along the way that will remain.

I had the pleasure of watching our final 3 teams compete this last weekend at the D2 Summit and as always that made our program proud!

As I turn out the lights for the final time on Wake Forest All-Stars please know it was a great ride and I loved every minute of it! Thanks to all of you that supported us… without you it wouldn’t have been possible!

One last piece of advice, be nice to your new gym owners and coaches and remember to trust them as they know more than you do 😊! I can’t wait to watch your athletes compete this upcoming season!

RED Wolves ended the season with 2 HIT ZERO routines!!! These ladies have worked so incredibly hard all season long! Red is finishing 15th out of 20 teams that made it to finals! We are so INCREDIBLY PROUD of their growth on and off the mat this season!
