On September 4, 1994, Tae Kwon Do was selected as an official Olympic sport during the 103rd IOC Session in Paris, marking a major milestone in the history of our martial art.

In 2006, World Taekwondo officially designated September 4th as International Taekwondo Day — a day to celebrate Tae Kwon Do and encourage even more people to discover everything it has to offer.

But Tae Kwon Do is about more than competition.

It's about Courtesy. Integrity. Perseverance. Self-Control. Indomitable Spirit.

It's about the confidence a child gains when they accomplish something they once thought was impossible.
It's about the discipline to keep going when things get difficult.
It's about the friendships, the challenges, the victories, the setbacks — and everything we learn along the way.

Today, we celebrate the sport, the martial art, and the millions of people around the world who continue to carry Tae Kwon Do forward.
