After a tough ending in their last game - a win in their final round robin game was a must for the RVA Liberties. After falling down 4-1 to the VA Spartans, the Liberties pushed hard in the 3rd with goals by #92 Galiffa (4) and #97 Murphy (1) to make it 4-3 late. It wasn’t to be though as with another loss came the end of tournament play. The Liberties were up against some stiff competition this weekend although not to fret, we shall see your RVA Liberties on the ice again very soon. Until next time!

After a tough first game on Friday night versus the Pylons, the RVA Liberties were able to squeeze out a tie with their cross-state rivals - the Peninsula IceHoles this afternoon. The Liberties were up 3-2 late in the game after a strong snipe from #92 Galiffa although they couldn’t finish the deal giving up a goal in the final minute. The Liberties return for the third and final must win round robin game of the tournament - tonight at 6:20 in a tilt with the VA Spartans.

Your RVA Liberties return to the ice this weekend in the annual Frozen Biscuit Hockey “Summer Bash” Tournament at the Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex in Chesapeake, VA. The Liberties will be taking on teams up and down the Mid-Atlantic with their first of three round robin games set for 8:40 tonight. Check-in to our instagram page throughout the weekend for updates. The RVA Liberties (8-7) were back at it this afternoon against the Peninsula Iceholes at the Hampton Roads IcePlex. It turned out to be a great game! Up 3-1, the Iceholes found a way to tie it sending the game to a shootout. The team’s “Swiss Army Knife” a.k.a. #92 Galiffa, scored the only goal after a huge stop by Liberties goalie, Simone, to cap off the team’s 4-3 victory. Way to go!!

The RVA Liberties had a bounce back effort this afternoon at the Richmond Ice Zone with a big 5-4 win against the Peninsula Iceholes. Two big goals from Hewko and stellar goaltending from Sharo were the difference makers as the Liberties move to 7-7 on the season.

Over the last few months, the RVA Liberties have visited a variety of rinks from the Haymarket Iceplex to the outdoors at Chevy Chase Country Club to the Prince William Ice Center to The Gardens Ice House. Today it was LaHaye Ice Center at Liberty University. Despite the results not being what they want, there still is an excitement about playing outside of RVA. Although, it is also nice playing at home - which the Liberties will do next Saturday in a rematch versus the Peninsula Iceholes at the Richmond Ice Zone. Puck drop is slated for 5:50pm.
