❤️💙 I’m not ready 💙❤️
You would’ve had to have been there to see it because there are no words to describe the magic that was performed on field by these ladies this weekend.
6 months is a long time. Half a year. Uffta! And in a blink of an eye it is done and our 2023 spring/summer travel season has come to a end.
6 months ago 12 quiet (most of them), shy (most of them), softball-loving young ladies came together and started building one of the most special bonds one can make. The start of a new season can sometimes be a scary and intimidating scenario - to walk in to a practice not knowing many of the others and then to see this crazy coach who loves to dance like a fool and gives homework in between practices lol. (There is a method to the madness, I swear!) Through it all we found commonality in our hopes and goals for the season and it didn’t take long to see the trust and friendships developing.
Our season has not been a cake walk by any means, despite the ridiculous talent in these girls. Statistically we should have won every single game, but where is the fun in that? And what do you learn by constantly winning and not being challenged? I would not change one thing from this season. Through every up and every down, every win and every loss we have grown as a team and learned the score at the end does not determine a “win.” We find our wins in multiple plays, at bats, a great slide, a huge catch in the outfield to save a run from scoring, keeping the championship mindset, helping our teammate stay up and so on, those are the WINS that matter.
Today we WON at State. Every single one of these ladies came to play their very best game - here’s just a few of the wins I saw for each girl:
🥎 Cami - excellent work in left field and running the bases
🥎 Enya - that HUGE dinger at the end and your superb catches and defense at 2
🥎 Katelyn - amazing job putting down the bunts, staying head strong and being an absolute BEAST in the outfield
🥎 Lauren - just a vacuum at short stop and then coming in clutch with hard hits
🥎 June - awesome at bats - swinging and hitting the ball every time and then coming in strong on the defense end in multiple positions
🥎 Cordyn - leader at the mound with countless strikeouts and keeping the bat strong on offense
🥎Emily - owning 3rd and laying down some huge game changing bunts
🥎Greta - working through an injury because you love to play, you can’t teach or beat that kind of passion
🥎 Ella - another commander in the outfield as well as making a huge out at 3 on a steal and staying headstrong through getting pelted multiple times
🥎 Caylee - being a battle queen in the box and an excellent fielder with an always positive attitude
🥎Amber - absolute BEAST behind the plate, multiple pop catches, being a total wall and terror of an arm to anyone trying to steal
🥎 Jaci - leader of the boards, pitcher warm ups and cheer captain
🥎Chloe - MVP #9 we had you with us all weekend - every pitch, every at bat, every play ❤️
I am not ready. 😔
When I met you all back in February, you became my family. My softball daughters. I hope that you have found a few takeaways from the season that you can carry with you as you go forward - whether it’s fall ball, or another sport or just in your life. I look forward to watching you play and be successful in whatever you choose to do wherever life should take you. Always know you have a fan and a supporter here. Thank you for an AWESOME and SPECIAL season ❤️
Love you girls.
