West Maui community conversation highlights nearly $600 Million transportation opportunity.

The conversation focused on coordinating several major projects now planned or underway including: Honoapiʻilani Highway coastal realignment; Lahaina Bypass Phase 1C; Keawe Street safety and multimodal improvements; Lower Honoapiʻilani Road improvements; and the West Maui Greenway.

Join Maui Bicycling League this Saturday, September 12, for a special ride to Lāhainā!

Experience newly reopened Front Street by bicycle, enjoy brunch and refreshments at Fork & Salad Lāhainā, and meet candidates seeking Maui County and State offices representing West Maui. Hear their perspectives on transportation projects and opportunities to build a safer, better-connected multimodal network.

Choose from three ride options:

🚴 Long Route: 32.4 miles from Haycraft Park at 7:45 AM
🚴 Short Route: 13.6 miles from Leoda’s at 8:30 AM
🚴 Front Street Community Ride: Approximately 5 miles from Fork & Salad at 10:30 AM

Brunch is complimentary for MBL members, and nonmembers are welcome with a donation.

Register your Keiki or Free Bicycle Safety Program – Aug. 29

Maui Bicycling League is partnering with the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation to offer a free bicycle safety program for keiki ages 7–12.
Through fun, hands-on instruction, participants will learn bike-handling skills, safe-cycling practices, and the rules of the road.
Two sessions will be offered at South Maui Community Park:
• Session 1: 9:00–10:00 AM
• Session 2: 10:00–11:00 AM
Each session is limited to the first eight keiki who register.
Participants should bring a bicycle helmet, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and water.

MBL June Ride - Last chance to register! We hope to see you at our monthly ride this Saturday, June 27!

Time: Meet at 7:45AM, roll out by 8:00AM
Meeting Place: Long's Drugs Pukalani (55 Kiopaa St, Makawao, HI)
Route: From Long's, we'll ride south along the Kula Highway and turn around at Grandma's Coffee House (9232 Kula Hwy) before making our way back. 18 miles round trip.

This ride will be led by volunteer ride leader, Jerry. This is an intermediate route with a 1400ft elevation gain. Optional group lunch at the food trucks to follow.

West Maui Greenway Environmental Assessment Virtual Community Meeting

After more than a decade of community advocacy, planning, and collaboration, the West Maui Greenway project is taking another important step forward.

We encourage residents, businesses, and community members to attend the upcoming virtual Environmental Assessment (EA) meeting to learn about the project, ask questions, and stay informed about the future of this vital community asset.

Despite challenging weather conditions including strong winds and rain, the 2026 Maui Ride of Silence brought together riders, community leaders, advocates, public agencies, and volunteers on Saturday, May 23, to honor cyclists lost on Maui’s roads and raise awareness for safer streets for all.
