Had a great time at Hood river! Want to say thanks to the great people I met for the wonderful week on the water. Thanks to for hosting the pop up clinics and the bbq with the crew. Thanks to for promoting the downwind aspect of foiling and thanks to at for all the effort you put in to making the best boards for downwind surfing.
Also thanks to and for all the support and great gear. Looking forward to seeing everyone progress and share the stoke as you continue towards your goals on the water.

Practicing pop ups on small waves. The technique is the same as a flat water start but the key is to wait for the wave to hit the foil. As you wait for the wave you want to squat and put less weight on the front foot and slightly more on the back foot. Once the wave hits the foil you should feel a surge and if you time your stroke with that surge you’ll get going with a few pumps. Push off the ball of your back foot up and forward at the end of your stroke. It takes patience and practice to get it right but once you develop that feeling of the surge and what the trough looks like in front of you during the surge it will help you pop up while out on downwind runs.
