‼️28” Rainbow‼️Hooked and landed by Mercedes on her RPLXi🎣🐠🏞

First day out on the river was more amazing than we could ask for! Resident River run native Alaskan Rainbow Trout caught and released after a thirty minute battle that included two acrobatic jumps, runs into the backing, and long tense moments while she sounded to the bottom. Measured at 28” using our trusty 🙏🎣🏔

Can’t ask for a better day to smoke fish 🐠🎣🔥

•

Home built native style open fire fish smoker that we made the other day, testing it out on a small halibut we caught yesterday. Came out Smokey, sweet, and delicious after a 2 hour brine in water, salt, brown sugar, mayple syrup, and a small bit of cracked black pepper. It was then rinsed, patted dry, and then smoked over the open fire for 2 hours while we enjoyed the first afternoon that felt like “Summer” 🏔🌋🏞

This king of the reef was battled by Mercedes from on a Mike Quinn custom rod using an while trolling the irresistible X-Rap Magnum 40 deep diver. Line was screaming like a pelagic bite when we hooked up, peeling more than 150 yards of line in the first run!

Yellow Spot Trevally, sometimes referred to as an Island Jack has a different mouth structure than most Trevally with an extending downward facing mouth. Their unique mouth makes them the perfect predator for crustaceans, and other small food on the bottom. Because they feed on the bottom and not on an abundance of small fish, they are known to mostly be free and clear of the Toxins associated with big predatory reef fish. Landed while deep dropping cut-bait on a hook using our trusted gear!🍣🏝🎣
