Dancing Around His Throne
About
My name is Nicole DeBoer and have been involved in dance since I was just a child. I grew up dancing at Performing Arts Center in Waconia (now WCDA) under the direction of Sue Gunness. About 11 years ago I went through a year long schooling with Eagles International Training Institute under the direction of Pamela Hardy for dance ministry. I completed a second year of training in prayer ministry. During this time I was part of my worship arts ministry at church as well as part of a local group of women from different churches that gathered together and worshipped at area churches through dance. My cousin and I then started a dance ministry for children called Dancing Around His Throne in the Elk RIver area. We both moved away from the area and have taken a break. During this time I have had 6 kids and homeschool and now I am ready to get back to dancing.
It is my heart as a licensed dance minister to raise up children to learn to worship and minister effectively in the way that God intended us to. To offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is true and proper worship according to Romans 12:1. This class will consist of ballet to teach technique and proper form as well as incorporating prayer and teaching Biblical principles in worship and dance. It is my desire that these children not just learn to dance to Christian music but to learn the true heart of God regarding dance ministry.
Why Ballet?
In dance ministry we know that anyone can dance before God as God has called us to whether trained or untrained but he also states in the Bible in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show thyself approved unto God.” I believe just like in anything we do before God he wants our best. So I am training these worshippers in ballet because it is the foundation of all dancing. It will give better posture, alignment, and discipline so they can offer their best before God. As with any activity the more we practice the better we become and can offer the best we have. Don’t worry it is not a full ballet class and will be just one part of the class with some bar work and floor work. I encourage everyone to take other dance classes to learn a better dance vocabulary!
Garment
Each dancer will be required to purchase a dance garment for ministry days. Exodus 28 speaks of what the priests had to wear before ministering before the Lord. God’s instructions to the Levites were very specific in regards to what the garments were to look like, showing how important these garments were to God. We want to look our best when we come to minister before God and we also want it to be modest because we do not want to cause anyone to stumble when we are ministering before God and His people. I believe it's important to be fully covered in a loose fitting outfit to show our modesty. Estimated garment cost will be $30-60 and most likely dancers will need a white long sleeve shirt and white leggings. As for class time wear something comfortable you can move in!
