It’s been 46 years since the US Men’s Ice Hockey Team won Olympic Gold in the 1980 Olympic Winter Games. That game was known as the Miracle On Ice and, decades later, the Olympic Village is often filled with athletes dreaming of a miracle of their own.
This past weekend, Lake Placid was flooded with athletes with disabilities and their families as American Special Hockey Association partnered with Can/Am for the Lake Placid Special Hockey Tournament, the embodiment of the manta that !
Flyers Youth Special Hockey was there, taking to the ice on that same space made sacred 46 years ago! And while 1980 was a few decades before most of the players on the ice this weekend were born, the magic remains and was felt every time the puck dropped!
Thanks to Coach Mark and Team Coordinator Jennifer for making this trip happen! To our head coach, Jake and Jeff, his assistant coach for this weekend, for being on the ice! To our new friends at Can/Am and our old friends at ASHA for creating this opportunity for our players and your TIRELESS work in executing it! To the parents who show up on early mornings in cold rinks, pouring as much coffee as we do love for our kids! This was a weekend to remember forever!
Do you believe in miracles?
