🔥 Player Shoutout: Mackenzie Kostick 🔥

Training with Owner Lindsay Simone, Mackenzie Kostick’s growth both on and off the mound has been incredible to watch. Through hard work, determination, and a huge shift in confidence and attitude, Mackenzie continues to take her game to the next level every time she competes.

This middle school season, she pitched 37 innings while recording an impressive 73 strikeouts — showing just how dominant she can be in the circle. 💪🥎

This past weekend, Mackenzie continued that momentum at her tournament by throwing a shutout game with 7 strikeouts, attacking hitters with confidence and composure from start to finish.

The biggest difference in Mackenzie’s game has been the belief she now has in herself. When preparation meets confidence, special things happen — and she is proving that every single outing.

Keep competing and trusting yourself, Mackenzie. The best is still ahead! 💙

🥎 Can we retire the myth that pitchers can’t hit?

Sure, some pitchers struggle at the plate. But I don’t think it’s because they’re pitchers.

The common argument is that pitchers spend more time on pitching lessons than hitting lessons. While that may be true, I think there’s another reason that often gets overlooked…

Many pitchers are thinkers.

A good pitcher is constantly analyzing situations, predicting tendencies, studying weaknesses, and trying to stay one step ahead.

Then they step into the batter’s box.

Instead of simply reacting, their mind starts working:

🤔 “What would I throw right now?”
🤔 “If I were pitching to me, I’d probably go outside.”
🤔 “She’s setting me up for a changeup.”

The very skill that helps them become successful pitchers—the ability to think ahead—can sometimes work against them as hitters.

But it doesn’t have to.

As a former 3-hole power hitter who could also lay down a bunt when needed, I absolutely thought about what the pitcher might throw next. The difference was learning how to use that information to my advantage.

Instead of overthinking, I looked for opportunities.

If I knew what a pitcher wanted to throw, I looked for the flaws in the plan.

If I recognized a tendency, I attacked it.

If I sensed uncertainty, I made them pay for it.

The best hitters react. The best pitchers anticipate.

The rare athletes learn how to do both.

They understand the game from both sides of the ball and use that knowledge to exploit weaknesses rather than create them in their own minds.

So pitchers…

The next time you’re in the batter’s box and thinking:

💭 “I would throw this to me right now…”

Don’t let it paralyze you. Use it.

Because sometimes the greatest advantage at the plate is understanding exactly what the pitcher is trying to do.

Another new high speed for Madison!!!! 43 mph and counting! A few months ago madison was stuck around 34-36mph, knowing she had more in her. She’s always been consistent around the plate, now it’s time for that speed to pick up and she’s doing just that🤩 Not to mention a new pitch (drop) that is already game ready! Super proud of Madison and her commitment 🥎💪🏼
