This year I set some large goals for myself for the marathon. (At least for me) In high school I never ran more than a 5k and I certainly didn’t enjoy them, but last year I decided I wanted to run my first marathon. I got pretty beat up and barely finished in time so this year I set goals that would motivate me.
First I decided I wanted to add some mass this year and get stronger.
Goal 1 weigh 200 lbs at around 15% bf before the marathon. ✅
Next I wanted to change how I prepared as I didn’t wanna put a lot of stress on my joints before running. So I trained for only a few weeks running short distances and learning how to pace myself.
Goal 2 train differently than others to prevent strain✅
Goal 3 run under a 5 hour marathon ✅
Even with these successes I had a plan in place to help me reach them. And I got to work, and that’s the best thing you can do is just put your head down and work.

When you have a goal, go get it. Don’t quit till it’s done. No matter who calls you crazy or thinks you won’t succeed just get it done. Get help when you need it, but never underestimate yourself!!

Lastly great job to all the runners I hope you all crushed it! To each of you with a goal don’t quit till it’s done!!

We all know that exercising can prevent diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and even some cancers, but did you know that there is evidence that exercising can even help with depression?

In a randomized study in the early 2000s, 202 adults with Major Depressive Disorder were separated into four groups: 1) Medication, 2) Group exercises, 3) Home exercises, 4) Placebo. Patients followed their assigned guidelines for 16 weeks until being evaluated at the end. At the end of the four-month study, 41% of patients achieved remission (no longer met the criteria for MDD). Among participants, the highest remission percentage came from medicated individuals at 47%, followed closely by supervised group exercises at 45%. In contrast, the patients in the placebo group only had a 31% remission rate.
