Search & Recovery Dive May 20, 2026 - Rough Hollow Marina

The storms Tuesday evening blew in fast and strong. As Lucas was covering the boat, the storage bin lid blew off and into the lake, taking along three wallets, two iPhones and two sets of keys.

A collection bag was brought along for this dive to secure all the items during the ascent.

As a bonus, a brass propeller dropped a while ago was brought back up.

Follow these helpful tips to improve the possibility of a successful recovery in the event you drop a personal valuable in the lake:

1. Capture a GPS pin of your location, preferably using Google maps.
2. Take photos and videos of the surrounding area, especially uniquely identifiable rocks, trees, natural terrain.
3. When possible, drop a trash bag with a large rock tied inside as a marker flag down below. This is helpful for the diver to narrow down the search area once found.
4. If available, tie a floating object to a line with a weight to mark the location on the surface of the lost item.
5. Contact Lake Travis Scuba at 512-784-5980.

Search & Recovery Dive Report April 26, 2026 - Lago Vista

Stella had a great time on Saturday at prom, recording the evening to share with mom, Megan, after the Sunday after-prom lake party. The kids were having fun and asked to extend the party later into the afternoon. Megan couldn’t resist letting them enjoy the day. After all, they would soon be leaving the nests for college.

As the party was coming to an end, Stella’s iPhone was being handed over when it fell from her grasp and dropped between the docks into the lake. Megan couldn’t believe what she was hearing, the prom photos had not been stored to the cloud. Stella and Megan had a mission: RECOVER THE PROM PHOTOS!

Stella tells the rest of the story in the video.

Dive Report April 4, 2026

This will be our 19th year serving the dive community with the best Lake Travis has to offer for recreational and technical diving. Throughout that time, we have hosted thousands of divers on Giant Stride and watched many divers as they advanced through their diving journey.

One diver in particular has logged more dives on Giant Stride than any other. And he has collected more treasures from the bottom ranging from the nastiest, smelliest towel to a valuable gold peso coin.

If you know who this diver is, you also know that he prefers seat number 8. Today we recognized Rusty for his patronage and support of Lake Travis Scuba.

Seat Number 8 now now proudly displays a RESERVED FOR RUSTY badge with the Marine Corp. logo. We’ve talked about this for years and finally made it happen.

With Ariel and Ben Myrdahl’s help, a badge was made and t-shirts prepared to celebrate Rusty and open the 2026 dive season.

Let the diving and treasure hunting begin!

Help support Roatán Marine Park with a donation for Jay Jeter’s 24-hour fundraiser dive. Include the note JJ BDAY with your donation.

Jay was a Scubaland Adventures instructor prior to pursuing his passion of scuba and dream of operating Bottom Time Scuba in Roatán ten years ago. Many of our local divers certified under Jay’s instruction.

Jay will be configured with sidemounts with scheduled tank swaps throughout the 24 hour dive. I will be participating as a support team member bringing replacement tanks to Jay and returning empties to the boat.

We will be reporting throughout the event from below using Ocean Technology Systems Guardian and Spectrum Full Face Masks configured to communicate with the surface on the PowerCom Surface Station provided by Lake Travis Scuba.

Every donation counts! Help Jay meet his goal of raising $10,000 for Roatan Marine Park.

Attempting an unbelievable feat for the RMP!
Roatan dive instructor Jay Jeter is celebrating his 60th birthday in an incredible way, spending 24 consecutive hours underwater on February 21-22 to raise funds for the RMP!

Jay will remain submerged for the entire dive, starting at midnight in West End and ending 24 hours later in West Bay. He'll swap tanks throughout the dive while staying underwater, covering 2.5 miles of reef along the way.

All proceeds go directly to support reef protection, coral restoration, and marine conservation across the Bay Islands.
