We have said it before and we will say it again: sleep is the wonder drug.⠀⠀⠀
_⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before you focus on doing an extra circuit of accessory work, mobility exercises, squat therapy, etc, focus on getting 8 hours of sleep.⠀⠀⠀⠀
_⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your main 'accessory' work, should be making your bedtime consistent.⠀⠀⠀⠀
_⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We understand that healthcare is about more than surgeries and prescriptions and fitness is about more than sweating and lifting weights.
_

We are addressing so much more than what happens in the gym. We are asking about your fuel, your stress management, your mental health and..yes...your sleep.⠀
_

We are bridging the gap by leaving no stone unturned.

You are not going to go through life without experiencing discomfort.

The things we do every day in the gym train us in more ways than fitness.
They train us to push our limits.
They train us to withstand uncomfortable situations.
They train us to understand what we are capable of.

We are capable of making ourselves more adaptable. We are capable of making ourselves more resilient. We are capable of adjusting to our surroundings.

Is your workout just a workout, or is it serving you the other 23 hours of your day, in the other avenues of your life outside the gym?

We can't choose whether we experience discomfort or not, but we can choose where we experience it, and train ourselves to handle it.

If you can run a sub 6 minute mile or lift heavy weight, BUT you’re in pain, how healthy are you?!

Your experiences in the gym should be adding to your quality of life, not taking away from it.

Pain happens, injuries happen. Sometimes they are unavoidable.

Luckily we are qualified to help you get OUT of pain when those things come up.

We realize that when someone comes to work with us they are either moving towards something they want or away from something they don’t want.

That’s what goals are, right?

Maybe you want to be able to go hiking with your kids without getting so tired.

Or, maybe you don’t want to feel like you need to wear a t-shirt when you go to the beach.

We’re not placing any judgement on what you do or don’t want.

We just realize it’s important to you, so it’s important to us.

Let’s call the thing you want to change your “prison state”.

That doesn’t mean your life is terrible. It just means there’s somewhere you’d rather be, something you’d rather have, be able to do, or some way you’d rather FEEL than you do now.

That place is your “dream state”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Whether your prison state has to do with your health and fitness goals or not, here are 7 questions to ask yourself often:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. What is your “prison state” that would have the largest positive ripple effect into other parts of your life?
2. Why is your prison state difficult to change?
3. Why do you keep finding yourself in the position you are in?
4. What would it take to make #3 untrue?
5. Why hasn’t #4 happened yet?
6. What would it take to make #5 untrue?
7. How can you start doing this by tomorrow?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Working towards what you want or don’t want can be frustrating.

It can also leave you feeling uncertain of if you’ll ever reach the finish line.

We get it.

Using these 7 questions often can help give some clarity around the most important steps to start taking to get where you want to go.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just so you know, we’re very accessible.
If you want to chat about this you can always shoot us a DM.
We’d love to hear what you’re struggling with and if there’s any way we can help.

There’s a difference between active recovery and
rest and you need BOTH..
For every 60 minutes that you workout, spend a minimum of 15 minutes on active recovery..
Every week take a rest day, no matter what.
NO EXERCISE!
Write, Read, Meditate, Get extra sleep, Meal prep food for the week, etc….
If this is something you might need help with, click the link in our bio and let us know.

Everything isn’t functional.
We all love challenging ourselves. We love trying new movements. We love to push the limits. There is value in learning new skills and gaining confidence in our body and it’s ability to adapt, change, and overcome.
One important thing to remember though is that if you are training for health and longevity there are some movements that aren’t necessarily always worth doing in order to reach your goals.
If you want to do them because you enjoy them, that’s great! But if you’re doing them to get to the goal of health, there are other ways to get there.
Training for competition and training for health are two different things. There’s overlap, but not all exercises that are useful for competition are worth doing to reach health goals. Keep the end goal in mind...
Training for health IS NOT a lesser version of training for competition. They are simply two different things!

It's really that simple

No one comes to us because everything is going exactly as they hoped

Typically they come to CTZN because they are looking to change something.

Usually they are missing the plan (guidance) or the action (accountability), but more often than not, it's both.

Maybe you need support and guidance and an actual plan to reach your goals.

Even those that have been with us for years still need a plan.

Why?

Because they have full time jobs, and being a fitness professional isn't one of them!

Maybe you need accountability to take action on the plan?

Many of our clients that have been with us for years need that, too. Why?

Because life is full of distractions (work, family, friends, etc), so having someone who is 100% focused on helping you take care of you goes a long way.

Maybe you're brand new to this or you've worked out before, it doesn't matter.

If you're ready to get to exactly where you want to be, and you want a plan and accountability, reach out to us.

We are ready to help you get there.

Send us a message or click the link in our bio to schedule a free consult.

Everyone has self-limiting beliefs.

Self-limiting beliefs are assumptions or perceptions that we have about ourselves or the way the world works.

The reason they are self-limiting is because they are quite literally limiting you from achieving things you're actually capable of.

At CTZN, when we work with clients, much of what we do is belief breaking.

Clients come to us with self-limiting beliefs about why they may be stuck where they are, and why it's unlikely to change, even though they deeply want change.

A simple example of this is musculoskeletal pain.

We have had clients come to us after dealing with YEARS of pain.

They've seen all sorts of doctors.

They've tried going to the gym.

They've been told "this just happens when you get older."

They believe "this is as good as it's going to get."

We break these beliefs over and over.

No one has assessed them the way we have.

No one has taken the time to listen and understand and support them like we have.

No one has held them accountable like we have.

This doesn't happen overnight. It usually takes weeks or months.

But what happens on the other side of this is an individual who once was self-limiting, thinking "this is just how it is", reclaiming their active life and creating new goals.

Goals without limits.

Goals they never even considered before, let a lone had a real plan to reach.

If you're tired of letting you self-limiting beliefs hold you back from what you're capable of, please reach out.

Send us a message or click the link in bio.

We want to help you, too.

Supposedly dust bunnies can’t kill you…

We won’t be taking any chances. 😤

You need a certain level of
flexibility to be functional in your life.

If you don't have enough you'll eventually get injured and you probably won't see it coming.

Everyone knows this, so what do they do?

They start stretching!

Why are we telling you something you already know?

Because when we feel the sensations that come from stretching we often assume they will fix other issues that might be happening in the same area.

Here's the problem.

If you're in pain because of weakness, no amount of stretching will ever fix that problem.

In fact, it might make it worse.

That's why it's important to get assessed by someone who can spot the difference between strength and flexibility issues.

When you work with us you'll go through both flexibility and strength tests to determine exactly what's going on with your body and what we specifically need to do to address it.

We don't guess and hope.

We assess and deliver.
