I remember once in my health and fitness career many many moons ago coffee was demonized.
It was a “dehydrator” and nobody seemed to like it without all the sugar….this leads to my point, this post is an advocate for coffee….not sugar water.
This post is not an excuse for you to go get that venti PSL, but rather encouragement to seek understanding so as to improve your habits.
Coffee has never been your “issue”, in fact coffee has quite the list of possible and proven benefits.
So let go of that guilt and enjoy that coffee, consider it a boost to your quality of life.

1. Caffeine may boost weight loss or prevent weight gain, possibly by:
suppressing the appetite and temporarily reducing the desire to eat while also stimulating thermogenesis, so the body generates more heat and energy from digesting food.
2. Caffeine can improve alertness and mental clarity.
A 75-mg serving of caffeine can increase attention and alertness, and a 160 to 600-mg dose may improve mental alertness, speed reasoning, and memory.
3. Studies have suggested that drinking coffee may help enhance some thinking skills and slow the mental decline that comes with age.
Caffeine affects adenosine receptors in the brain. Coffee also contains polyphenol antioxidants, and these, too, act on various pathways in the brain.
