About a month ago, I had the privilege of sharing the stage with one of the world's premier performance coaches, Ben Newman. The moment was especially meaningful because I'm also honored to be certified by Ben through his Coach to Coaches program.
Standing beside someone who has invested so much into my own development was a true full-circle moment.
Our messages were different, but deeply connected.
I spoke on Trench Work Leadership—the belief that leadership is earned in the trenches, not from the corner office. Real leaders carry the load, set the standard, and serve before expecting to be served.
Ben challenged the audience with one of his signature principles: Standards over feelings. High performers don't let emotions dictate their actions—they let their standards define how they show up every day.
Together, we also discussed long obedience in the same direction with aggressive patience. Meaningful success isn't built overnight. It's earned through consistent discipline, relentless ex*****on, and trusting the process.
Finally, we talked about the power of partnership. The greatest accomplishments in business, the military, and life are never achieved alone. They are built by people united around a shared mission.
As a Navy veteran, it was especially meaningful to share stories honoring the men and women who have served our country. They deserve leaders and professionals who serve them with the same excellence they've demonstrated in serving all of us.
