All the years I’ve spent around the gym, I have only one pic of Maynard and myself.
I think there may have been a few at Gator Boxing on the wall. I met Maynard if 96 or 97 before Gator Boxing at Victory Gym. I took to him fast! I’ve always liked Maynard. The Gym did a lot for me back then and I Know it has done a lot for others! I’ve met a lot of life long friends there. The kind you don’t see for years and when you do it’s a big handshake and a big hug! Lots of mutual respect was made in the gym and I loved that! You get your bell rung and you ribg the other guys right back and when it’s over you hug it out and do it again tomorrow! Maynard will be missed and so will the gym. All good things must come to an end! Thank you all for making memories, Jason johnson.

After decades of serving the Roanoke community, Gator Boxing has rung the final bell.
While it is with a heavy heart, we are grateful to all current and former coaches, fighters, members, and their families for their years of support. While Gator Boxing will be closed permanently, allowing Coach Maynard Quesenberry to enjoy a full retirement, the remaining coaches will be partnering with the Roanoke City Police Department to continue training the community’s youth and aspiring fighters through the Champions of Change program.
