To our Muskrats Nation and Family,
For the last seven years my family and I have made Robbie Mills Field our home. I never anticipated the path taking in a college athlete for the summer would put me on (as a note - host families don’t be scared - my path was not the normal path!). During my time with the Muskrats I’ve met incredibly talented baseball players who have been a whole heck of a lot more than their talent. I’ve met fans who come out and support their team at the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. And More than anything the volunteers - those people who love this organization, these players, the fans and this community that they’ve been crazy enough to join me in dedicating pretty much their entire summers to provide the Lakes Region with the best damn sports entertainment we can. They are rare gems - and I have been blessed to work alongside them and call them friends.
My goal has always been to continue to provide our wonderful community with a fun, family-friendly, affordable product that brings generations together. That everyone felt like a part of the organization. And that despite the outcome, that everyone felt a little bit better for coming out and spending time taking in a game. That they made memories with their friends or family. That they wanted to come back.
Priorities shift. I’ve taken on a new full time job in the past year and my boys who it feels like learned and walk on the baselines are practically headed to high school and middle school. I have decided to step down as General Manager of the Muskrats. I will never forget the lessons I’ve learned or the people who have left their mark on me. I’d especially like to thank Shyla Hamilton for her dedication the last two summers as our Assistant General Manager, all our incredible interns the last few years, as well as the Dempsey family, Garnett family, Mazzei family, McNeil family, and Prescott family without whom we frankly could not put on a game each game day. Thank you also to the Muskrats Board of Directors and stakeholders for the opportunity to serve as General Manager. Thank you to the NECBL Board of Directors and my fellow NECBL General Managers for their assistance and guidance throughout my time here. Lastly, thank you to my family, Martin, Adam, and Connor for their support, sweat, love and hard work always but particularly over these many summers.
Thank you for everything Muskrats family…I’ll see you in the stands!
Warmly,
Carey Hough
